Renovalia Energy was created more than fifteen years ago in Villarrobledo (Albacete) to provide electricity for the industrial company of the Ortega Martínez family, Grupo Forlasa. This initiative stemmed from the wish to provide affordable and renewable energy solutions to combat climate change and improve the lives of individuals, eliminating highly polluting traditional energy sources from their production processes.

In a major strategic turnaround, the Ortega family moved away from its Forlasa dairy business to focus its efforts on renewable energy. Grupo Forlasa was created in 1970 by Bernardo Ortega. The French company Lactalis took over the company at the beginning of 2010.

In December 2011, Renovalia Energy and First Reserve -the worlds largest investment fund of energy and infrastructure - create RENOVALIA RESERVE to develop wind farm projects in Europe and North America. This new company has 485 MW in operation.

In January 2016 Renovalia Energy was acquired by US fund Cerberus in order to continue with its growth strategy and increasing assets under management.

Now Renovalia Energy has become a multinational company and a global reference in the renewable energy sector.
